Fitness grading for trekkers
Apart from self-uploaded fitness screenshots, could we have a fitness grading by the trek leader once a trek is completed?
We often see trekkers who technically meet the 5K criteria but struggle significantly on the actual trek, which can impact the pace and safety of the entire group. This could simply be based on the assessment trek leaders already make during the trek — how the trekker handled the pace and terrain, any AMS symptoms, difficulties faced, recovery, etc. A grade, along with a brief note on what they need to work on before taking up a more challenging trek, could be added to their trekker dashboard. This would give Indiahikes a much more realistic picture of a trekker’s fitness than screenshots alone and help the team plan future treks better.

That’s a great recommendation. I also would love to see this feature, 2 of my friends I am planning Rupin Pass in Sept(It’s their first ever trek) but they also insist on doing Har ki Doon as their 2nd ever trek as DIY in coming March. Such a fitness grading will help a lot to assess what challenges we can take in future and if we are ready for self sustained treks.
